The chances are very good we do not control the lava but due to frequency of our lava tour we make every attempt to keep you updated as possible. The volcano has a pulse which goes varies. 99% of the time when we operate our lava hikes you will see lava.
Sure if you would like to poke a stick in the lava go ahead but be careful you dont get burnt from the radaint heat :). A favorite of lava tour guests to light a torch using the lava’s heat in Ahui Hawaii.

Kilauea Volcano has consistently erupted now for more then 30 years with very little interruptions so yes lava is usually flowing somewhere on the island. Now much of the time Pele decides to stay tucked away in remote areas making for quite a hike to visit here fiery lava flows.
We want you to enjoy the ultimate volcano tour experience but your safety is utmost important to us all passengers will sign a release of liability waiver before boarding. If you have preexisting back, neck, recent surgeries or other conditions that could be aggravated by a rigorous lava hike this tour is not for you. Not recommended for expected mothers. All passengers must be over the age of 7 years. If you have any questions please consult your physician before booking tour. If guide deems you are at risk we reserve the right to refuse service for your safety.
Always a good idea to come prepared. We strongly suggest you bring a change of clothes for after the tour so you can change into clean clothes after hike. Comfortible hikeing shoes or boots are great, hat to cover you from sun, long pants, at least 2 litres of water, Remember to bring a camera fully charged, film or media, and a dry bag to keep all your special items. Each seat is equipped with storage directly under you. We recommend sneakers or slippers for shoes, no heels will be allowed.

A fast paced begins with your cruise arrival time in mind. Start at 10:00 am and arriving back at about 3:00 pm, the rest of the boat will wish they had signed up!
